BVT Aviation

Mission Statement:

BVT Aviation's primary goal is to address the need for manufacture and supply of airworthy components for legacy aircraft, to keep them flying without prohibitive price points.

Our story:

BVT Aviation is owned and operated by experienced Australian light aircraft pilots, who have vast expertise in aircraft engineering, light aircraft manufacture, aircraft componentry and global business best practice.

Our motivation began after recognising there is a great need for aircraft components that are either no longer available, or are overpriced new old stock.  Unfortunately owners can spend too much time searching for worn, expensive, questionable second hand parts from wrecking yards.

Here in Australia, due partly to our great distance from just about anywhere, and the need for light aircraft to cover vast distances of our own country, we have been producing unavailable aircraft parts for years, to satisfy the local market.

We are now ready to offer our collective talents globally.

We have the skills, the knowledge, the experience and the equipment to replicate almost any part of an aircraft.  We are traditionalists and enjoy solving problems to help keep Cessna's, Beechcraft and Pipers in the air.

Guarantee & Certification:

All aircraft parts available for sale carry a guarantee they are made to exacting standards, by qualified aircraft engineers.

Certification paperwork supplied with each component includes:

  • Material release notes for each component
  • Heat treatment release notes detailing the temper of the component
  • Fitting Instructions
  • Release notes for any bushes or grommets
  • All hardware used is AN / MS Spec

Production lead times:

We will attempt to always carry stock on hand of all items listed in our online store (with the exception of Spitfire wings, which take about three years to make). In the unlikely event we sell out of stock on hand, the maximum lead production time is four weeks.  We will advise on the website and via email for any orders placed if there is a delay on immediate supply, however if in stock your item will be shipped within 2 business days of receipt of your order.

In regards to Spitfire wings, as there are about 15 different marks we do not intend to hold stock, so place your order early and avoid the rush.

Production Capabilities:

Our comprehensive workshop machinery equipment includes:

  • Heat treatment furnace - 3' diameter x 10' high
  • Heat treatment furnace - 2' diameter x 3' high
  • Three axis CNC mills
  • CNC lathes
  • 130 ton hydraulic press with 5' x 3'6" platten
  • 100 ton hydraulic press
  • Roll former
  • English wheel
  • Spin riveting for tube structures
  • Hydroformer
  • Eckold piccolo former shrink and stretch
  • 3D scanner and CAD modelling
  • All the usual benders, folders, guillotines and hand tools
  • cnc router

Manufacturing one off aircraft componentry can be a costly business, subject to size and complexity.  Obviously anybody can make simple brackets and folded parts, however once the need for compound curves, billet CNC machining or hydroforming arises, the complexity increases and this is our area of expertise.

If you would like us to quote on making you a specific part not already available in our online store, please email us at davescamair@bigpond.com

We may need you to provide a sample of the component you need, so we can reverse engineer and determine the material to manufacture from.

Tooling costs to produce complicated components are what mainly drives the cost up. The quantity required will also affect price.  The quote you'll be given will be in two parts, the tooling cost (which you would own) and then the cost of the component/s.

However, if we consider the part you have requested to have a commercial application and can be produced for resale in a viable quantity, we will absorb the tooling cost, and you'll be quoted for the component/s only. This approach has a double benefit, you will receive your component at a lower price and we'll have a new component for sale to benefit the industry as a whole.

So, if you're trying to repair and patch to get to the next annual, or your A&P cannot repair again and it is a recurring problem on your aircraft service, please email davescamair@bigpond.com and we'll look into it for you, we thrive on problem solving!
